Why Roaches Are So Persistent in Lubbock
Here in West Texas, roaches aren't just an occasional nuisance—they're year-round troublemakers. Lubbock’s dry heat, combined with aging homes and commercial kitchens, gives these pests plenty of room to spread.
We often see German, American, and Oriental cockroaches—each with their own habits. They're usually looking for food, water, or warmth, and once they slip into walls or drains, they can multiply fast.
Unfortunately, many people don’t notice them until the infestation is already widespread. Spotting even one can be a sign to act quickly.
At Zeroach Pest & Termite, we’re more than just pest control — we’re your partners in protecting what matters most. With a commitment to safe, effective treatments and top-tier customer care, it’s no wonder we’re one of the highest-rated pest control companies on Yelp and Google. If we’ve earned your trust, help others find us by leaving a 5-star review — your feedback means the world to us!

Our Roach Control Process
At Zeroach Pest & Termite, we go beyond basic sprays. Roaches are persistent, so we take a detailed, hands-on approach that targets the infestation at its source.
Step 1: Identify the Roach Species
Each species of roach — whether German, American, or Oriental, is required a specific treatment. We start by identifying which type you're dealing with and applying the right strategy and materials for the most effective results.
Step 2: Inspect for Problem Areas
We’ll thoroughly inspect your kitchen, bathrooms, utility spaces, and entry points for any signs of roach activity. During this inspection, we check for things like crumbs behind appliances, leaking pipes, or pet food left out. If we find anything contributing to the infestation, we’ll explain it to you and suggest ways to address it.
Step 3: German Roach Treatment
German roaches can be tough to deal with, as they often hide deep inside walls, behind cabinets, and in warm, humid areas. To eliminate them, we use a combination of dusts, baits, and growth regulators to tackle the problem from all angles. Sometimes, we need to access tight spaces, like under sinks or behind stoves, to reach every hiding spot. This is where our hands-on approach makes a difference.
Step 4: Large Roach Treatment (American, Oriental, Turkestan)
For larger roach species like American, Oriental, or Turkestan, we use residual insecticides and granular baits. We also focus on exclusion work by sealing gaps, clearing clutter, and making your property less inviting to these pests in the future. Reducing their access points is a big part of long-term control.

Signs You May Have Roaches
If you’re not sure whether roaches have moved in, keep an eye out for:
- Droppings. Roach droppings look like small black specks, similar to ground coffee or pepper. You may find them in kitchen cabinets, behind appliances, or near food storage areas.
- Musty smell. Roaches emit a distinctive odor that smells like a musty, oily scent. If you notice this, it’s a good indicator of a roach problem.
- Egg casings. Roaches leave behind dark brown, cylindrical egg casings (ootheca). These can often be found in hidden areas like cracks or behind appliances.
- Visible roaches. Spotting roaches during the day can indicate a larger problem. Roaches are nocturnal, so seeing them out in the open during the day often means they’re multiplying quickly.
Simple Ways to Keep Roaches Out
Staying ahead of a roach problem starts with a few basic habits:
- Seal entry points. Roaches can slip in through tiny cracks and gaps around doors, windows, and pipes. Make sure to seal up any gaps around your home’s exterior to prevent them from sneaking in.
- Store food securely. Roaches are opportunistic feeders. Make sure to store food in sealed containers and clean up crumbs, food spills, and sticky spots immediately.
- Fix leaks. Roaches are drawn to moisture, so check for leaky faucets, pipes, and drains. Keeping your home dry will make it less inviting to these pests.
- Cut down on hiding spots. Roaches love dark, messy areas. Keep storage spaces organized and limit excess paper, cardboard, or clutter.
By keeping your space clean, dry, and well-sealed, you can help make it much less hospitable for roaches to settle in.
